Master's course

The Master's course aims to deepen the philosophical knowledge, as well as to enable the development of the student's ability to perform research using primary and secondary sources in an author or a specific topic.

The Master's course has a minimum duration of 12 months and a maximum duration of 30 months, including the defense of a dissertation. It requires the fulfillment of 16 credits in subjects, the presentation of the Final Project within the duration stipulated in the Regulation, as well as the preparation of the Dissertation.

Doctorate course

The Doctorate course aims to develop the ability to conduct original and independent research in a specific area of Philosophy.

The Doctorate course has a minimum duration of 24 months and a maximum duration of 60 months, including the defense of a thesis.

It requires the fulfillment of 8 credits in disciplines, the presentation of the Definitive Project and the approval in the Qualification Exam, within the duration stipulated in the Regulation, as well as the preparation of the Thesis.

Postdoctoral internship

The Graduate Program in Philosophy receives postdoctoral students, with or without funding from development agencies, and under different conditions. Depending on the opening of Public Notices, Postdoctoral students can be linked to the Program in the following modalities: PNPD (National Program of Postdoctorate) - CAPES; PDJ (Junior Postdoctorate) - CNPq; PDS (Senior Postdoctorate) - CNPq; Junior Postdoctorate - FAPEMIG, or others.

The Postdoctorate internship is governed by UFMG Resolution No. 04/2009, of April 14, 2009. The postdoctoral internship request will be sent to the Postgraduate Collegiate Body accompanied by the following documentation:

- Letter from the interested party requesting the Postdoctorate, indicating the supervisor, the line of research, the title of the research and the period of attachment to the Program;
- Letter of acceptance from the supervising professor;
- Copy of doctoral degree (front and back);
- Lattes curriculum, in the case of a Brazilian candidate, and printed curriculum vitae, in the case of a foreigner candidate;
- Work plan containing the research project (maximum of 20 pages in total);
- Declaration that the candidate has full time to carry out research activities during his/her postdoctoral residency;
- Copy of ID card, CPF (for Brazilian candidates), Passport (for foreign candidates) and proof of residence.
