Postgraduate Program in Philosophy - UFMG
Ancient Philosophy Group
The group that was formed in 2007 is focused on research in Ancient Philosophy in several aspects. It has a very broad scope that ranges from pre-Socratic thinkers (emphasis on Democritus) and the reception of their thought in Antiquity, the thinkers of the corpus hipocraticum, passing by the sophists (emphasis on Gorgias), by Socrates and Plato, as well as by Aristotle, the Stoics and reaching Plotinus. In addition, there is also research on the reception of the ancient tradition in Modernity and Contemporaneity, within the scope of rhetorical and cinematographic studies, and also within the appropriation that some philosophers made from ancient philosophers.
