This line of research aims to study themes and problems from ancient Greek and Roman philosophies and from the Arab and Jewish aspects of medieval philosophy, comprising authors, traditions and the different fields in which their research was developed.

Within the scope of Ancient Philosophy, the line favors the following traditions and authors: the Pre-Socratics, the Sophists, Plato, Aristotle, the Hellenistic Philosophy (Cynicism) and Imperial (Stoicism) and Plotinus, their dialogue with the other cultural contemporary manifestations and the examination of problems related to the transmission and reception of their theses and doctrines in posterity. Within the framework of Medieval Philosophy, the line of research includes the following authors: Averroes, Avicenna, al-Ghazali, Maimonides and Gersonides.
